Applications:
NS800 portable spectrophotometer is widely used in plastic, electronic, painting, coating, ink, textile, garment, printing and dyeing, food, medical, cosmetic, industries, scientific research institutes, schools and laboratories. It can measure reflectance spectrum and other color index precisely. NS800 portable spectrophotometer not only can help to perform color matching and color management studies, but also can control product quality management accurately. The instrument is equipped with high-end color management software which can connect PC to achieve more extension functions.
Color Space
CIE LAB
-L(Lightness)-0 is black,100 is white
-a(Red-Green)-positive values are red; negative values are green
and 0 is neutral
-b(Blue-Yellow)-positive values are yellow;negative values are blue
abd 0 is neutral
CIE LCH
L: Lightness, value is the same in each scale C:Chroma H:Hue Angle
dE Total Color difference
Delta-E is a measurement used to indicate how much a color deviates
from an accepted standards. The higher the dE, the more inaccurate
the color.
What is CIE LAB?
CIE L*a*b* (CIELAB) is the most complete color space specified by
the International Commission on Illumination (French Commission
internationale de l'éclairage, hence its CIE initialism). It
describes all the colors visible to the human eye and was created
to serve as a device-independent model to be used as a reference.
The L*a*b* color space is used when graphics for print have to be
converted from RGB to CMYK, as the L*a*b* gamut includes both the
RGB and CMYK gamut. Also it is used as an interchange format
between different devices as for its device independency. The space
itself is a three-dimensional Real number space, that contains an
infinite possible representations of colors. However, in practice,
the space is usually mapped onto a three-dimensional integer space
for device-independent digital representation, and for these
reasons, the L*, a*, and b* values are usually absolute, with a
pre-defined range.
What is Whiteness?
In colorimeter, whiteness is the degree to which a surface is
white. An example of its use might be to quantitatively compare two
pieces of paper which appear white viewed individually, but not
when juxtaposed.
The International Commission on Illumination describes it in the
following terms:
To promote uniformity of practice in the evaluation of whiteness of
surface colors, it is recommended that the formula for whiteness,
W2 or W10, and for tint, Tw,2 or Tw,10, given below, be used for
comparisons of the whiteness of samples evaluated for CIE standard
illuminant D65. The application of the formulae is restricted to
samples that are called "white" commercially, that do not differ
much in color, and that are measured on the same instrument at
nearly the same time. Within these restrictions, the formula
provide relative, but not absolute, evaluations of whiteness, that
are adequate for commercial use, when employing measuring
instruments having suitable modern and commercially available
facilities.
